Illinois Pro Academy
Setting a New Standard for Basketball Development
Illinois Pro Academy is a next-generation basketball academy built on a European development model that prioritizes skill mastery, game intelligence, and long-term athlete growth.
We develop players who think the game, move without the ball, compete with purpose, and understand winning basketball — not empty-calorie basketball driven by stats and highlights.
Development first. Competition with intention. Passion for the game.
Our Vision
A Different Way to Build Basketball Players
At Illinois Pro Academy, we are intentionally doing things differently.
IPA is not built on chasing tournaments, exposure, or social media moments. We are building a true basketball academy — one that mirrors successful European development systems while preparing athletes for the modern American game.
Our focus is on:
Individual skill acquisition
Film study and basketball education
Cognitive training and decision-making
Team concepts and advanced game IQ
Movement without the ball, spacing, and timing
We teach players how to play, not just how to perform.
Why This Model Matters
Too many players today are playing empty-calorie basketball — nonstop games, little teaching, and minimal accountability.
At IPA, every workout has purpose. Every rep matters. Every player is taught why decisions are made on the court.
This approach:
Builds smarter players
Translates to higher levels
Creates confidence and consistency
Develops leaders, not just athletes
This is a first-of-its-kind model in Illinois, and one designed for the future of basketball.
Team Structure & Commitment
One Team. One Standard.
IPA operates with one team per age group, allowing us to maintain elite teaching standards and consistent expectations.
15–20 players per team
Mandatory mini-camp / tryout at the start of the season
Clear expectations for attendance, effort, and development
This structure allows for depth, flexibility, and accountability — without sacrificing development.
Training Model
Built for Real Development
Beginning in April, all athletes will participate in:
Two mandatory team practices per week, focused on system play, concepts, and competitive execution
In addition, players have access to:
Optional elite training up to five days per week
Led by coaches who specialize in specific skills such as shooting, finishing, footwork, and decision-making
This allows athletes to customize their development while staying connected to the team.
Competition Model (Quality > Quantity)
From March through the end of June, IPA teams compete nearly every weekend.
Competition includes:
Local and regional tournaments
Select national events
Participation on the adidas Jr. SSB circuit
For major national events:
8–10 players will travel or compete
Selection is based on commitment, attendance, and readiness
Athletes not traveling will compete locally on the same weekends, running the same concepts and systems, ensuring no player is left behind.
Built for Real Life
We understand that not every athlete has the same path.
Our model supports:
Multi-sport athletes
Academic priorities
Family balance
Kids being kids
Commitment determines opportunity — not politics or favoritism.
